Vintage PENDELTON TWINS !

Winter is quite strange where we live this year...

One of the warmer for almost 100 years!

But it's also a sad one, with rain, rain and rain...

So when we can enjoy a few sun rises we must go out!

I have to share with you a strange fact...

I saw my husband going out dressed like this a few weeks ago,

and I shout something like "OMG!!!!!!"

"That's crazy!!!! I have the same shirt!!!!!!!!!!!!"

This 40's pendleton have been one of my favorites for almost 10 years....

But I had never realized that Sylvain had the same one!

But not really the same...

Sylvain has a shirt for men, double flat pockets and right closure.

Mine has only one simple pocket and left closure as all women shirts!

When I look at labels mine must be a little older, probably for the 40's and Sylvain's one from the 50's.

So for once I asked him to be dressed like a pair...

Black and white shoes...

Dark pants...

I chose some bright assessories....

to give a more girly look to this boyish outfit.

I really love Pendleton shirts...

on men of course but also for women!

But I must tell you that the one I own is the only one I have ever seen since 15 years!

Perfect twins, aren't we????

Do you have some Pendeltons in your wardrobe ?
Do you have some vintage matching clothes with your man ?

HARCOURT Studio

Have you ever heard about HARCOURT Studio?

It's the most famous photographers studio in France since 1934.

I don't known if HARCOURT is famous out of France...

They are really well know for their vintage style black and white portraits.

All stars from the Golden age were pictured by them from Clark Gable to Brigitte Bardot, but also modern actors like Jean Dujardin.

I could have show you many and many gorgeous portraits,

but I will only show you this one!

This is an original from the 40's that Sylvain and I found in an old movie theater in Lille.

Just a french starlette but you can see the quality of this picture!

So why am I speaking about Harcourt Studio?

That's because we heard about something amazing for Valentine's day...

One of Harcourt's photographer will be at a commercial center near home and will picture a portrait for free for all couples that will come. So Romantic!!!

We were really excited because do you know how much costs a portrait in their studio?

About 2000 euros!!! Can you believe that???

So I chose this classic 40's style for the shoot...

Vintage 40's crepe dress with nice details.

Sylvain wanted to wear his new 50's sweater.

We have to wait a bit, because a lot of couples wanted a nice portrait...

And here is the result...

I must tell you that we were quite dissapointed..

The lights give a really nice background on this picture,

But as it was free, I don't think the photographer gave his best...

There are some really bad shadows on both our faces,

picture could have been a bit more dynamic...
we think we look quite fater and older on that picture...

finally our personnal little pictures are not so bad!

I think if a photographer don't take time to understand their models...

see what can be their best angles and change lights orientation from model to model, he cannot have a perfect result.
You must take time to have a good portrait!

Have you ever heard about HARCOURT Studio?
What do you think about this picture?

PINK CADILLAC...!!!

Few days ago, Sylvain left me alone at home to go to a special event in Paris...

It took place in the famous "Grand Palais",

an amazing 19th century building.

The french motor show was organized there each year from 1901 to 1961.

On that day, those cars from the past came back in this huge "cathedral" for an auctions sale.

On the first day of the show, potential bidders could inspect closely these beauties!

Only people registered for auctions were allowed to enter,
so it was not crowdy at all.

so you may have understood that Sylvain had a special idea in his head...

(even if our garage is already full...)

So many nice cars and bikes!!

As usualy in Europe, most of cars were english or italian.

Sylvain's brother, who was with him, fell in love with this fully restored E-Type Jaguar from 1961.

But my hubby remains faithful to his love for american cars like this '47 Cadillac convertible!

However that was not for this car that he came for...

He coveted this pink '59 Caddy convertible which was
the star of "Pink Cadillac", a 1989 movie with Clint Eastwood!

A lot of documentations was provided to certify its particular history.

Sylvain spent a long time to look carefully at the real condition of this beauty.

Even if it was far from perfect,
for example repainted rapidly in pink for the movie,

it was still an amazing car with an unique history value!!

After a short night full of pink... dreams, Sylvain came back for the auctions day!

The estimation for this car was quite reasonable: about $ 34000-48000, so Sylvain was pretty confident to win the car...

It was the first time he took part of an auction. He was so excited! Sylvain bid three times...

But he finally lost the car!
Result was $ 83800: far too much for the condition of this pink lady...and for his budget!!!
Anyway, it was a nice experience in a magical place!

Have you ever neen part of en auctions sale ?
Did you know "Grand Palais" in Paris ?
