Life in BLUE....

Here is a heavy post... I cannot choose between all those nice pictures...

There are some days when you really like how an outfit turns.

First, I had the pleasure to wear this dress for the very first time!!!

I found it in a vintage shop in Portland.

Despite I like blue, I don't have so much blue clothes...

Some people asked me how am I creating my outfits.

So here, I wanted absolutly to wear this new 50's dress on that nice day.

Wrap dresses are always so comfortable when it's hot outside.

After that I picked up this 40's navy sweater to match it.

Even if I was first planning to wear red accessories, I decided to change my mind...

I chose to wear one of my favorite jewels set: yellow flowers!

It matched perfectly the sweater embroderies!

This purse from the 50's matched the white/blue of the dress and the yellow/gold of my jewels!

This handbag is from MIDAS, I have just found another one cannot wait to show it to you!

So after the purse, I needed a matching hat...

I found this one a few months ago for just a few euros in a local flea market.

I love the delicate veil on it.

I was thinking to wear white wedgies with this outfit...

but I discovered these Rockets Original shoes in my closet (that I almost forgot about...)!

Navy blue sunglasses and here is one of my favorite outfits from few last weeks!!!

We were out on that day for a vintage cars meeting with friends.

So Sylvain drove his '58 Continental...

and I was with my '54 Bel-Air.

My husband drive a lot his vintage cars but not me...

perhaps owning 4 vintage cars is perhaps a bit too much!

I like my CHEVY but I also like to be driven...

It's not like a modern car, you need to be fully awake to drive safetly... 

you must break early, it's bigger, you must always turn a bit the steering wheel... it's quite tiring even if my car have alredy power steering and power breakes.

So here is my teenager husband...

This is not an usual outfit for him!

Vintage style jeans...

 and what?????

NO TIE!!!! Can you believe it?

I think this style suits him also really well, isn't it?

That was such a nice journey... 

we came back home with some sunburns!

Petite journée entre amis histoire de sortir nos vieilles mécaniques de leur sommeil hivernal! J'ai pris un grand plaisir à construire ma tenue, j'aime beaucoup associer les couleurs. Porter une robe qui dors avec ses étiquettes depuis 60ans, c'est un grand honneur!!!

Pour une fois, nous sommes sortis à 2 voitures...Sylvain roule beaucoup ses voitures anciennes, je ne peux pas en dire autant... avec quatres 50's, il faut faire des choix et j'aime aussi beaucoup me faire ballader... conduire une anciennes n'a rien avoir avec une ancienne, il faut être concentrée, prévoir les freinages, gérer la taille hors normes de ces véhicules, tourner sans arrêt le volant pour garder le cap... bref un peu fatiguant, mais aussi si dépaysant. Avez-vous déjà conduit une ancienne?

Vous n'aurez pas manquer de remarquer la tenue inhabituelle de Sylvain... Et vous, comment choisissez vous vos tenues?

Vintage SCARVES and SEPARATES...

I write this sad cold and rainy post from last week  when it's now 25°C (almost 90°F) outside... quite strange...

Weather is really crazy lately....

I could even not picture Sylvain's outfit because of non stopping rain!

So almost a winter outfit...

but to give me a good mood under the rain,

pink flowers were perfect!

I bought this cashmere DARLENE sweater at Viva.

It was new old stock still in its box with tags...

why did anybody buy it in the late 50's??? 

It's SO gorgeous and soft!!!

I bought the 40's gabardine skirt in Red Light in Seattle...

As I mentionned in some previous posts I'm trying to buy more vintage separates 

and more vintage basics easy to match,

you cannot wear a crazy novelties dress with a flowers sweater and leopard shoes!

Vintage basics are strangely hard to find... 

Too much worn, hard to be recognized for sellers???

Perhaps only L sizes are hard to find?

It's always fun to try to match new purchases together!

I'm also trying to expend my vintage scarves collection...

I want to have all colors to be able to match with every outfits!

FRENCH CORNER

Une petite série de photos dans le froid et sous la pluie la semaine passée... un peu bizarre car il fait maintenant plus de 25° ici!

Pour garder le moral avec ce temps désastreux, j'avais choisi cette tenue aux couleurs flashy avec plusieurs achats issus de notre voyage aux USA.

J'essaye d'orienter ma garde-robe (déjà bien remplie) avec plus de "separates", je ne crois pas qu'il existe un mot en français pour cela, et des basiques... donc plus de pulls, jupes, chemisiers... et tout cela pour arriver à marier plus facilement certaines pièces qui dorment dans mes placards!

J'ai aussi une nouvelle addiction, les foulards vintage. Certains sont de véritables oeuvres d'art!!! J'aimerais avoir toutes les couleurs de l'arc-en-ciel... oui je sais, je suis un peu folle...

Et vous, portez-vous souvent des foulards?

LILY of the VALLEY day !!!

1rst May is a day off in France so we could enjoy our first week-end back under the sun!

That was a flea market day, I found some great vintage jewellery but forgot to picture them!

We were in Belgium and made a short stop in Luxembourg for a small photo shoot.

Here is what I wore, all 50's!

In France, the 1rst of May is Lily of the valley day. I don't know if it's the same in others counstries....

So I created this brooch myself with vintage plastic flowers found in a previous flea market.

My husband chose a late 40's look.

A follower asked me how much vintage ties have Sylvain...

Probably more than 200 I think...

Moreover he sold a huge lot of 100 50's ties last year!!!

He really is a 40's tie addict.

I have already noticed that people stare more at me when I wear full skirt and huge hat...

I think at least 50 people asked me for a picture on that day!

Hubby wearing bright colors was also solicited a lot.

He was wearing his new Muffy's saddle shoes.

I have had this vintage 50's dress for a long time but this is the first time I wore it.

I don't know what to think about polka dots...

I like them but I think there are too much cheap repros using them! 

So even if this dress was an original from the 50's, I didn't feel like wearing it because it looked repro...

I'm crazy, aren't I?

So I finally decided to wear it, I chose matching accessories and really like this outfit!

Did you notice the lily of the valley on my hat?

FRENCH CORNER

Bonjour à  tous les francophones qui suivent notre blog! Suite à des remarques de quelques lecteurs, j'ai décidé d'ajouter un petit plus dans notre belle langue pour ceux qui ne maîtrise pas la langue de Shakespeare...

Quelques photos de notre 1er week-end après notre retour des USA, le pont du 1er mai! Style 50's pour moi, 40's tardif pour Sylvain pour une journée de brocante en Belgique.

Boutonnière muguet faite maison avec des fleurs vintage.

Mon mari, véritable accro de la cravate, en possède à mon avis plus de 200, celle-ci est américaine des années 40!

Ce genre de tenues provoquent toujours beaucoup de réactions dans la rue, quasi 50 personnes nous ont demandé de poser pour des photos ce jour là!!!

Cette robe dormait depuis des années dans mes placards... je la trouvais trop "repro" alors que c'est une originale des années 50. L'usage des pois sur tout est n'importe quoi a fini par me donner un sentiment mitigé sur ce motif... dommage... Mais au final, bien accessoirisée, je me suis sentie à l'aise dans cette tenue! Et vous, vous en pensez quoi des motifs à pois?
