In a 30's mood...

I usually wear late 40's or early 50's clothes but today I chose to take out of my wardrobe a late 30's winter dress. These kind of dresses made of wool are quite hard to find because moths must love them as much as we do....

It has been the first sunny day since November I think, so it was time to wear those 30's sunglasses for the first time even if I owned them for about 2 years....

I love my new vintage 40's handbag!!!!

It was also the first time I wore this red velvet turban found last March in a vintage cars show.

I love so much those vintage poodle brooch that I wear it a lot lately. Red is really one of my favorite color !

It was a fun short photo shoot near the "Moselle" River... but it was so cold... Winter seems to be finally here!!!

Do you own a lot of vintage clothes or accessories that you love and have never found the right time to wear them?

A WORLD TOUR in the 30's !!!

Some years ago, we bought a quite not typical thing in a french flea market... it's a box full of brochures from all around the world. It was the only vintage item of the stall of this familly and they probably don't know what they sold to us for only 1 euro!!!!

Came back home we realised that it was like a small treasure, all these brochures dated back to the 30's and contained for example transportation tickets, post cards, theaters programs, so it was sure that people who collected all these documents travelled across all these countries!!!!

FRANCE

ITALY - SPAIN - AUSTRIA - SWISS - ENGLAND

EGYPT

MORROCO

U.S.A :  NEW-YORK

BOSTON - MONTREAL (CANADA)

TEXAS

A lot of states parks...

GRAND CANYON

CALIFORNIA

MEXICO

SEATTLE

FAR EAST

JAPAN - CHINA

INDIA

I really love to travel so reading all those vintage brochures made me travel all around the world but not only they also make me travel in time back to the 30's... It's easy, fast and quite affordable to travel nowadays but in the 30's ...!!!! Those people must have been really rich and this world tour must have lasted perhaps 2 or 3 years judging by the dates on those brochures. What a great adventure!!!!

My FIRST vintage dress

Do you remember you first vintage dress? Or shirt for you, guys?
Me, I can remember it really clearly! I looked at old paper pictures of me and my husband some days ago and I came across pictures of the day I wore it for the first time.

It was a sunny day in summer 2001 during a vintage cars show.

My husband (he was just my boyfriend than...) already owned his 1959 Cadillac.

He must have had a "Top Gun" complex with his US Navy Uniform. I was probably proud to be with Tom Cruise on that special day...

I remember to have bought this dress in a shop in Strasbourg which unfortunatly doesn't exist anymore. That shop was KILOSHOP a place where we was able to buy vintage per kg!!! I bought it about 7 euros...

It was not a "real" 50's dress but just a 80's one does 50's. But at that time, I didn't know anything about 50's dresses except from some vintage magazines bought a month before. I was asking myself "Is it a real 50's dress?" and I didn't know how to be sure of that...

It was a nice dress very well made with an amazing petticoat and embroidered dots on the skirt, but I don't own it anymore because it was too small, moreover I'm only wearing "real" 40's-50's clothes now.

All accessories on those pictures were modern ones except the umbrella which is from the 50's. I still own it with a lot of others now!

SUMMER 1958...

I already told you in this post that my husband has just bought a 1958 Lincoln Continental. So I asked myself what I could wear to cruise in that convertible next summer...

Looking across my vintage magazines, I came across this book.

A book about coats and suits for summer 1958, what more to ask to be inspired ? I'm not a big fan of late 50's fashion, my favorite clothes are definitively from 1945 to 1955, but those drawings are so cute!!! I will let you appreciate all those ideas for summer 1958!!!!

What do you think about those drawings ?
