Vintage WEDDING at Avalon's Ballroom

And here is what you wanted to see...

 

Our 30's outfits for our friends' wedding!

 

 

That was a nice ceremony...

 

 

shorter and more fun than our french ones!

 

 

Look at the beautiful vintage gown of the bride!!!

 

The ceremony took place in a small chapel in Avalon.

 

So much well dressed people!

 

After the chapel, girls changed their outfit for evening gowns...

 

 

Here is what I worn!

 

 

I don't wear a lot of 30's clothes...

 

 

 but I own this dress since many years and had never find the place to be able to wear it.

  

 As black is perhaps a bit sad for a wedding, I asked to the sweet Irene from Swell Dame to create for me this gardenia set! 

 

 

As Avalon is so small we walked from the chapel to the Ballroom...

 

Sylvain was wearing a 30's suit with nice wide legs pants!

 

 

Avalon's Casino is really an amazing place....

 

 

I stole this above picture from a friend of FB, I love it!

 

So many stars of the 30's-40's came to sing, play and dance there! 

  

 

The Ballroom is really breathless!!!!!!!!!!

 

The view had not to be missed!!!

 

 

Being there was like a dream...

 

Here is the bride with a second dress....

 

 

her bridemaids were just GORGEOUS!

 

 

Here is the groom wearing a cream vintage tuxedo...

 

 

these crazy boys were also wearing vintage tuxedos, you rocked guys!!!

 

 

This post is really long because I was not able to choose between those or those pictures...

We met a lot of people in Catalina... for exemple Chris (from Wacky Tacky) and his sister Mary, FB friends that I really wanted to meet in reality!

 

 

The dance floor can look a bit empty but that's because the space is so huge... 2000 people can fit in this room!

 

 

Did I mentionned that we found Sylvain's suit in a flea market in Belgium for 8 euros?

Moreover the size was perfect... what else to ask?

 

After a good meal....

 

 

we could not stay sitted anymore...

 

 

it was PARTY time!

 

 

The bride and the groom opened the ball...

 

 

and everybody followed them!

 

 

A lot of bands and special guests performed on stage...

 

 

 

 

Among them our friends Mary, Chris, Jody.

 

 

We even had the chance to meet Raffi, an eleven old french boy that plays and sings like Little Richard! We already knew him, he was finalist at a TV show in FRANCE! 

 

 

After a few Champagne cups...

 

the atmosphere warmed up a bit more...

 

 isn't it, Mr. Tiny?

That was an unforgettable evening... we want to thank Benny and Jen for asking us to be part of the best day of their lives!!!

Peaceful morning in CATALINA

And here is our second day in Catalina Island....

Woken up early due to jet lag, we had to wait a few hours for the wedding ceremony!

So we had time to enjoy a good american breakfast...

and see more about this island's architecture!

Our hotel from the 20's...

All vegetation was also wonderful!

These are not our wedding's outfits...

Because I had to wear evening gown from the 30's...

to match with the amazing Avalon Casino's Ballroom!

It's not easy to pack small suitcase for a 3 weeks trip with 2 weddings and VLV...

You must choose just a few accessories that can fit several outfits...

But of course we were hoping to do some vintage shopping... but you never know what you will find!

Catalina was so peaceful in the morning...

Look at those cute victorian style houses!

I was a bit dissapointed with the quality of shoppes there....

I was hoping for more vintage style souvenirs, some handmade stuffs... but nothing like that! What a pity!!!

Have I ever mentionned that I love purple and pink???

And it was already time to get ready for an unforgatable wedding!!!

Fun at CATALINA ISLAND!!!

Sorry guys!!! You have perhaps noticed our absence these last 3 weeks...

 

We were on vacation far, far away from home....

 

We spent about 3 weeks in California.

 

But we had several goals there.

 

 

2 couples of american friends got married and of course we had to end our trip with VIVA LAS VEGAS...

 

 

Here is the first crazy groom!!!

 

 

 

So for the first wedding we went for the first time at Catalina Island less than 2 hours boat from Los Angeles.

 

A place really out of time... most of buildings date from the 20's-30's.

 

 

The wedding we had to attend was of course a vintage 30's style one and our friends choose an enchanting place, the Avalon's Ballroom.

 

 

During 3 days the streets of Avalon were full of vintage style people wearing amazing suits from the 40's and lovely dresses of the 30's...

 

A lot of tourists asked us what was happening!

 

Felt like a vintage paradise!!!

 

We met a lot of new friends from California but also from Europe...

 

 

We met Lars from Danemark. 

 

 

When we share the love of vintage stuffs, friendship is easy!

 

Weather was not too hot, even a bit fog in the morning. 

 

 

Avalon is a really tiny town...

 

you can visit everything by walking!

 

We arrived on friday, a day before the wedding.

 

Catalina is really a place that's worth a visit!

 

Really old for californian people not so much for us european people...

 

But I must tell you that we were really inpressed by Avalon's Casino....

 

A round ART DECO building in front of the sea and so well preserved!

 

There is a still working movie theater in the first level... still furnished like in the 20's!!!

 

The second floor is a huge ballroom...

 

A lot of fun for our first day in the USA...

 

We finished this special day with a BBQ with friends.

Too much for one day... I was so tired....
